Today’s a very special day for Armenia and a big celebration. Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe were able to travel to Armenia to meet with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on April 9, 2015. The visit is taking place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. The Armenian Genocide is explained as:
“The Armenian Genocide also known as the Armenian Holocaust,[the Armenian Massacres and, traditionally by Armenians, as Medz Yeghern (Armenian: Մեծ Եղեռն, “Great Crime”), was the Ottoman government‘s systematic extermination of its minority Armenian subjects from their historic homeland within the territory constituting the present-day Republic of Turkey. The total number of people killed as a result has been estimated at between 1 and 1.5 million.”
The public radio of Armenia stated:
“The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Kardashian family’s contribution to the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and welcomed their visit on the threshold of the Armenian Genocide centennial. The Kardashians said they will continue to actively struggle for the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and emphasized the importance of the unity of all Armenians.”
Khole and Kim Kardashian weren’t alone—her husband Kanye West and daughter North came with them on the trip to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide—being Armenian this means a lot to me.
Kim Kardashian took to Instagram posting a picture with the caption:
“Armenia we are here!!!!! We are so grateful to be here & start this journey of a lifetime! Thank you to everyone who greeted us! I can’t wait to explore our country and have some yummy food! #MyDadAndGrandParentsWouldBeSoProud,
