Miley Cyrus addresses Tennessee bill and her support for the LGBT community!
Miley Cyrus is not having it with the new Tennessee bill that would affect the bathrooms of transgendered students in public schools and even universities. She took to Instagram this morning and slammed the state for it’s proposed legislation that would make the restroom consistent with one’s gender identity ILLEGAL.
Yuck—this doesn’t sound like equality at all and it personally sounds like they are just trying to take away the agency of people and their rights to do what they wish with their lives. After all, it’s not for us to judge other people. (I don’t care what you believe in, it’s not right to make a permanent judgement on people. It took me years to learn this one but it brought me a long way, everybody deserves a chance and equal rights). The bill really rubbed her the wrong way:
“The singer wrote, “For a moment a few weeks ago, it seemed like lawmakers in Tennessee had really heard the brave testimony of a transgender young person and her parents. A mother’s simple ask to legislators about what they would do if it was their child who was transgender hit a nerve, and the anti-transgender bill was sent to a summer study session, seemingly killing if for this year. But that was two weeks ago – a lifetime ago, it seems, in light of all that has happened since – and that bill is back.”
It’s nice to see that people do care about gender equality, gender rights and the LGBT community. While we may not agree with the way someone lives their life, we can love, support and encourage them always by being a person of integrity, accepting others for who they are as people.
